People that Piss Me Off: Extremist Christians

As a student that goes to THE Florida State University (lol college snobbery) one of the unfortunate things I have to deal with are either Christian groups brining extremist pastors to my fair campus, or these extremist pastors brining themselves to this campus. Now I'm pretty tolerant of other peoples belief, but I draw the line at public evangelizing, especially when they are anti-gay or holocaust deniers, and when they just scream senseless beliefs to "spread the word of Christ". Now I'm all for personal interpretation of scripture, but theres no reason why one should spew their ill-informed beliefs in a public forum to attempt to convert weak-minded college students to their extreme sect of Christianity. It amuses me that Americans are afraid of Muslim extremists, when they should look in their backyard and listen to the crap that is being spewed by these CHRISTIAN extremists. Sometimes I wonder if these people have ever opened a bible. Oh wait, I know some of these people haven't opened a Bible because most of them haven't gone to a seminary... but they claim they don't believe seminaries. They are essentially like angry, anti-establishment Christan hate spreaders. The sad part is that a lot of people on my campus agree with this BS and even pay to bring some of them here. It seriously angers me that people buy into this crap, and as a result I have to listen to this crap on a weekly basis.
Here's a list of some of the clowns I have to deal with on a regular basis...

Tom Short - In my opinion, the least offensive of the following 3, but still a major annoyance.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Short

Brother Jed - One of our most common visitors, and a heinous excuse of a Christian...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brother_Jed

Brother Micah - Apparently he's the worst of the 3 that regularly tour Florida colleges, haven't had to see him yet... but crossing my fingers not to have to meet this asshole...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micah_Armstrong

My bottom-line: keep your religious views to yourself, keep your faith out of my government, and stop spreading hatred, because you know... Jesus probably wouldn't like that. Oh and another thing FSU Christian groups... STOP SPENDING MY MONEY ON STUPID, OFFENSIVE SHIT!

People that Piss Me Off: FSU College Republicans/Genocide Awareness Project

*WARNING* Disturbing Images Ahead

*WARNING* Angry Rant Ahead *WARNING*

Now, I haven't ranted in a public forum like this since I owned a Xanga (yes I did say Xanga) back in middle school, but sometimes I just have to rant somewhere, luckily the internet invented little places like this for just that exact purpose. The most recent subject of my rant today is FSU's College Republicans, and the Genocide Awareness Group.

Now once you get to know me, you will find me relatively reasonable, albeit the fact that I can have some crazy ideas for the most part I consider myself relatively fair-minded and open to various ideas. However, there are few things that anger me, one thing that really boils my blood is ignorant rightists that are attempting to shove extremist Christian beliefs down my throat, or Upper-Middle/Upper Class WASPs trying to push domestic policy which only benefits themselves, and it seems like the two have fucked and spawned an abhorrent display of shock publicity.

Now to introduce the players which have induced my anger party...

The First Offending Party: FSU College Republicans.
This umbrella organization houses rather disgusting organizations that preach and proclaim anti-choice and anti-LGBTQ sentiments. I can't decide if they are just trolling, or if they are really as ignorant, and crass as they seem, as displayed by their "affirmative action bake sale" where they gave people of other races whole sections of baked goods, versus the whites who only got half. Now I have no problem with trying to make political statements, but thats just douchy, and plus a lot of the facts that they spew out, aren't even correct, and when people get angry at them, they hide behind free speech, which is extremely convenient if you ask me... But in any case another one of the disgusting associations is the "Noles' Anti-Choice League" or something along those lines, basically its a group that wishes to strip rights away from women and essentially make women forfeit the right to their own bodies, which I find to be totally bullshit. No one should have human rights stripped from them.

Second Offending Party: Genocide Awareness Project
This is another group of anti-choice mutha-fuckahs who liken abortions to the genocide in Rwanda, the Holocaust, and to every other genocide throughout history. What makes things worse is they have full length displays which show graphic images of aborted fetuses compared to images from the various genocides they think that aborted fetuses are comparable to. I believe this to be pure, unadulterated ignorance. One could spin an anti-abortion view however they want, but abortion is not comparable to the slaughter of millions. Thankfully our campus isn't taking this blight lightly as various organizations have banded together to try to push them off campus. Unfortunately we have this thing called Freedom of Speech, so even the most ignorant of hate speech can be spewed on our fair campus.

Conclusion: This situation pisses me off to no end, and I'm sure that the college republicans are smugly sitting in high backed chairs, swirling warm brandy and smoking cigars and laughing at the chaos they've caused. One of thing things that really angers me is the fact that my student fees are going towards funding these Ultra-Rightist assholes right to speak on my campus. Also I'm angry at the fact that the college republicans keep getting funded year after year, for that matter I'm angry that any political party gets funded every year. FSU really needs to think more about the way they give out money to RSOs, in fact they should hold more over sight over all these processes, or move protests, at this point I have no reasonable solutions as I am that angry about this situation. I am just glad that these people are leaving tomorrow, but thats two days too late.

A HellzIronChef suitable outcome: All College Republicans/Genocide Awareness Project people are rounded up and shot, or they are forcibly re-educated Clockwork Orange Style to not be assholes.

Realistic Outcome: They are allowed to come back to campus year after year, due to free speech laws... and this process of protesting protests will continue. But luckily we have people that are willing to stand up for what's right, and hopefully we never lose such people

Meatball Deathstar: Superbowl Edition

As i posted earlier, I am a pretty big fan of EpicMealTime, and since their "Meatball Deathstar" seemed pretty palatable, I thought that I would try my hand at making it during Superbowl Sunday.

For those of you who don't know about EpicMealTime/The Meatball Deathstar, here is the source material.

Here is the end result.

In this image is 5 pounds of beef (3 pounds made up the deathstar, 2 pounds of was in the meatsauce that was in and around the deathstar. 2 pounds of tortellini, and about 10 rolls that were halved and covered in garlic butter, and cheese. (You currently can't see all the bread because it was being eaten over the period of the day)

It was a lot of fun to make, and we even took video, when I eventually, work on the video, it will be put up. But I didn't make this beast on my own, I had the help of my friend Dan, and we had taste testers also!

Here is a quick set of photos which document the cooking process

Seasoning the Meat, Pasta and Meat sauce is cooked.

Prepping that meat by beating it.
Dan watches as I beat and shape the meat

Meat is cooked, but needs to be drained of all its juices

Deathstar is drained, flipped into pyrex expertly by Dan.

We wonder what to do with our mad creation

We know what to do... Cover it in cheese

Hungry Ev eagerly awaits his meal
Girl friends willing to taste crazy concoctions, thats true love.

Can't get enough of that meat

Passes the test of my lovely gf :)

Well those are the images documenting the creation of the meat beast, and all in all it was quite delicious, unfortunately it did not last long after that as what ever was not eaten was left in the fridge for a good few days, so unfortunately it had to get tossed, but all in all, twas a good meal.

Changing the Blogging Game!

It's been a long time since I've made a new post on this blog, but now I'm back with a vengeance, and hopefully I'll post much more often... not that anyone is reading anyway, but f*** it, I'll babble on all day, everyday.

I've found a new obsession, that appeals to my mad chef side. Epic Mealtime. This Canadian blend of crazy cuisine, delightful vulgarity, and in this most recent iteration, literally near food porn, creates a comical orgasm of food and funny. Being curious as to how the food they make tastes, I made my own version of one their creations, the Meatball Deathstar for the Superbowl, pics will follow. Video was also taken so that will all be eventually put together in a tribute to the Epic Mealtime guys and girls.Their edible antics have created an environment where quotes are a plenty, with memorable visuals, and most of all their calorie and fat counter. It is my new found YouTube obsession, and I don't think its ever going away.

(this is like my favorite screen grab from the show, ever)

On another note, as soon as they release T-shirts, I am totally buying one.

Pics to Come!

Game Review: Medal of Honor (Xbox 360 edition)

In between cooking and doing dishes, I am a very avid Gamer. I've been in a gaming clan since 2005 (The clan is called HellonEarth, and hence where I get my name sake as my gamertag used to be IronChef, so when you combine my Cland tag and my gamertag, it turned into HellzIronChef, what it still is today) but as of late I have been reduced to console gaming, not that I am saying its a bad thing, but considering how I was once both a PC and Console gamer, one can see it as a step back. But in any case, I am currently an Xbox gamer for now, and I recently picked up EA's new Medal of Honor. Now many reviewers as of late have been giving the game sub-par scores, but I think that in general it's a decent game, that suffers from a few flaws, but that should not be held against it. If you want to know the back story to the game, all you have to do is pick up a news paper from a few years back, and  look at news stories from the front lines in Afghanistan, though some of the missions would not be even released to the media, sometimes things are just better kept under wraps.

*Spoiler Alert*

You play though the campaign from 4 different perspectives. You play as AFO Wolfpack (aka SFOD-D) AFO Neptune (Aka Navy SEALs), Army Rangers, and for a level you play as an AH-64 Apache gunner. The single player campaign is separated into a two day stretch, and is a bit short for my tastes, though I hope that extra content will be released soon for the game. If you want to know what the rest  play the game! Though many people have complained about the game, I believe that its just the fact that the gaming market has become so jaded by the "modern shooter". For once, in my opinion, The gamer gets to see war from the perspectives of real war-fighters, especially elite warriors from the Special Forces community. I have recently be reading much about the War in Afghanistan especially from the perspective of the Special Operations community, From books like Kill Bin Laden, and The Nightstalkers, some of the scenes from Medal of Honor reminded me of some of the scenes from these books, from the frantic defense of downed Helicopters, to moving about freezing mountain tops in search of insurgents, I believe that Medal of Honor has captured the spirit of the war in Afghanistan from the perspective of the the SF operator. I think the part that I like most of the game is the fact that the game developers worked so closely with members of the SF community. I truly feel that the game pays homage to the SF operator. Now the game is divided in two, Single player and Multiplayer. Multiplayer plays just like a combination of Modern Warfare 2, and Battlefield Bad Company 2, and to be honest I like the point-based support system in Medal of Honor a lot better than Modern Warfare's kill-streak system, my only quip with the game is that I wish there were a few more weapon options, maybe some more destructibility in the environments, but besides that the game is a great addition to any shooter fan's collection. In my book, I don't regret my purchase and I don't foresee myself exchanging the game anytime soon!

*Disclaimer* - I have no association to EA in anyway, I was not given the game for free, nor am I trying to hype the sales, I just think that this is an overall fun game to play, and that it should be given a chance instead of just looked over because the reviewers say that its not that great.

*Addendum 2-8-11 * - I wrote this review in October/November when the game came out, I subsequently returned it less than two months after I purchased it, unfortunately, slumping player base, lack of deep customization as well as  numerous minor issues I had with the game made me unfortunately return the game sooner than I had anticipated.

Favorite foods and cooking influences

Well with my first blog post I figured I'd give you my influences in cooking and my favourite foods!

Let's begin by influences!
I'm half Asian and half European by birth, and I was born in the US, so that alone gives you an idea to how varied my tastes are. From spicy, to the savory, to the bizarre, my food exposure varies immensely! However unlike a growing trend in cuisine, I tend to be a purist when it comes to recipes, unlike these synergy type foods were its Asian-fusion or south-western inspired. When I'm in the mood to cook Asian food, I cook Asian food and only asian food. Throughout my posts I will be putting up recipes that I use, as well as my attempts to recreate famous recipes.

I'll put up a few pics of my favorite foods, see if you can point it out!

Simple and Short Post Right? btw I love posting images to say what I can't soooo prepare for loading times if you are on a slow connection.
