Being a New Linux User

I recently purchased a Lenovo net book (s10-3) with some of my Financial Aid Money, as my current laptop is on the way out, and I figured that I would only be using my net book for net-browsing and note taking in class. And So far I'm in love with it. Not only that, but I un-installed Windows and put on Ubuntu Linux. Now I can tell you that it was quite a process, and not being completely familiar with Linux, I had a few stumbling blocks along the way, but now its pretty amazing! I have written two papers on this netbook thus far, and I can honestly say I couldn't be happier! So if you all want to try a new experience (I suggest possibly running the Linux OS from a flash drive before installing it just to try it out) and some fun, get the latest version of Ubuntu Linux from...

One of the best things I found about Ubuntu linux (I'm currently running the netbook remix version of Ubuntu 10.10, version 11.04 is to be released soon!) is that its customizable to how you want it, however I wouldn't recommend it to novices in the computer feild, though google and the Ubuntu help forums could probably help Iron out any problems you might have!

SHOUT! SHOUT! LET IT ALL OUT!

So i watched the Finale for Season 1 of US Skins, and the song Shout, by Tears for Fears was the song that Stanley & Caddie sang (in UK Skins they sang Wild World by Cat Stephens) and I found myself instantly singing along (like I am prone to do when I like a song), and regardless of what you think of the show, one has to admit that that song is a classic. Not only is it a classic, but its a song that still has continued meaning, not just as teen angst anthem, but as a song that can define a movement.
People everyday in some way shape or form crave to be heard. Luckily we have the internet for that now, but what if we stopped to consider what would happen if tomorrow, the Internet were to disappear, how would one make their voice heard? Just a random thought.

Blog Spotlight: Beauty on the Brain

So I mentioned in an earlier post that I have an AMAZING girlfriend, who puts up with my crazy antics and still loves me despite my craziness, what I didn't mention is that she's a talented writer, a great make-up artist, oh, and has a Make-up blog thats geared towards make-up buyers on a budget. Everyone should definitely check out her blog! Now this isn't just favoritism because she's the love of my life, she definitely knows her stuff, and if she could teach a bull-headed guy like me the proper order of applying make up, (you have to apply concealer first, then your foundation ladies! or at least I think that is the proper order lol) and which styles will come into fashion in the upcoming season. (her talents go beyond just make-up, she is also extremely fashionable!) So check out her blog, and expand your knowledge like she's expanded mine!
